Arabic Summer Language Courses

Arabic is taught at LSE as part of our extra curricular language programme available to all LSE staff, students, researchers and academics.

The expertise of our experienced teaching team is also used on our Summer Language Programme...a range of short but sweet Summer Language Courses.

 

Arabic for Beginners

A course for absolute beginners. You will have no knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic but wish to have an introduction to the basics and learn some language at survival level.

Pre-requisites:

  • This course is suitable for students wanting to learn Modern Standard Arabic
  • No previous knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic required

Course aims:

  • The course introduces the students to the Arabic writing system and enables them to read and write basic words and sentences
  • To deal with a range of predictable simple language tasks using a limited range of language
  • To establish the skills- language and attitudes required to promote and facilitate further study of Arabic

This course has two options. Either a 12 or 16 hour course. Those who complete this course could progress (upon tutor’s approval) to our Certificate courses in the autumn.

 

Arabic for Beginners II

A continuation from Arabic Beginners 1 or for those students who have familiarity with Arabic script and who read and write basic words and sentences.

Pre-requisites:

  • Admission into the course upon tutor’s approval please check you level prior to registering and paying with Lourdes Hernandez-Martin, L.Hernandez-Martin@lse.ac.uk.

Course aims: 

  • To develop the ability to use Arabic effectively for purposes of practical communication at survival level
  • To establish the skills language and attitudes required to promote and facilitate further study of Modern Standard Arabic
  • To bring the students to level A1 of the Common European Framework

The course consists of 16 hours of classes. Those who complete this course could progress (upon tutor’s approval) to our Certificate courses in the autumn.
