Learning Support

Members of staff are always available in the Language Centre during opening hours to assist you in your language learning. Feel free to approach us with any queries regarding our courses and your independent study.

1-2-1 Language Learning Advice

How are you getting on with your language learning? Would you like to improve your skills?

We can help you

  • focus on your particular language learning needs
  • with general or specific advice on language learning strategies

You can book a one-to-one appointment to look at your learning techniques, make a study plan or explore ways to maximize your learning.

Please note that these sessions will look at language learning skills and are not a language class.

Please contact our Teaching and Learning Facilitators to book an appointment: language.centre.teaching.learning@lse.ac.uk.

Online and Tandem Learning

The LSE Language Gateway: we can help you access our specialised online language learning resources site.

Tandem Learning: we can help you find a Tandem partner and tell you about our Language exchange events.

Learning Support Workshops

Focusing on non-academic English, these workshops are characterised by their informal and interactive nature and have a range of themes such as film, creative writing and drama. Workshops might cover the following:

  • Conversational English
  • Idiomatic expressions
  • Cultural themes
  • American English

These workshops are open to all LSE students who are non-native English speakers.

Foreign Language Films

We have a selection of films, with subtitles, which currently are used in conjunction with courses. Now we have moved to our new location we are currently working on an online catalogue and lending system.
