Members of staff are always available in the Language Centre during opening hours to assist you in your language learning. Feel free to approach us with any queries regarding our courses, support and services.
The Language Gateway on Moodle is where you can access our Online Resources and Film Database, sign up to our Tandem Learning programme and get advice on independent learning.
We have a collection of recommended resources to aid independent language study. The language resource pages act as a filter to the vast number of language learning resources available on the web.
You will find resources, organised by language, skill and level such as the following:
Live & Recorded TV
Study Skills sections
Podcasts, Listening & Pronunciation
Arts & Culture sections
You can also search for resources through the Digital Resource Finder.
Would you like to practise the language you’re learning by meeting regularly with a native speaker?
We suggest signing up to the Tandem Learning programme on Moodle, so that you can find a language buddy to exchange your languages.
Alternatively, if you don’t wish to sign up you can look among the list of students already signed up and contact them directly.
Another option is to look for students learning the same language as you, should you wish to form a study group.
We organise a series of events throughout the year, based on the languages we offer. These may include the following:
Language skills workshops
Advice sessions on independent learning & digital literacy
For further details and to book, please take a look at our programme on the Training and Development System.
Learning Skills Advice on Moodle
1-2-1 advice to help you plan you language learning. If you would like to make an appointment, please send an email to: email@example.com
We have a large selection of foreign language films, with subtitles, which you can borrow.
Some of them are currently used in conjunction with courses. Watching films is an excellent way to complement your language studies; in particular it helps with vocabulary and listening.
You can browse our online catalogue on the Language Gateway.
