Things to remember for the Application Form

  • Please read through thoroughly the course outline and any additional information available on the programme for which you are applying.
  • Please also read through the terms and conditions applying to all Language Centre programmes and courses.
  • You can check our Course Availability page to see what courses have places open.
  • Please complete the form as fully as possible. Most fields need to be completed but yoy may not need to upload every file requested.
  • Please give your full name as it appears on your passport.
  • An LSE number may not be applicable but if you have applied or studied at LSE before it is essential that you use the same number.
  • Please give a daytime (GMT) telephone number in case we need to contact you to ask you about your application.
  • An entry in the BSc/MSc/MPhil/PhD may not be applicable but if you have applied or accepted a place at LSE or another University it may be useful for us to know.
  • Please give as much information as possible about any learning difficulties or special medical needs you may have.

File Uploads

  • Please upload a current photograph and copies of any language certificates used in support of your application. This should be a JPEG file of a size no more than 16KB.
  • In general please keep attachment size to less than 2MB. In some cases when a form is submitted with files larger than 2MB the form will not reach us and no error message will be displayed.
  • If you are applying for a Foundation Programme please upload a statement of interest explaining, in a maximum of 500 words, why you wish to study at LSE and what you hope to have achieved by the end of the course.
  • Please upload a copy of your most recent language certificate (if you have one) i.e. IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Please upload a copy of any offer letter you may have from LSE or another university.

Application Fee

  • If you are applying for a Foundation Programme following submission of the online form you will be asked to pay the application fee of £45.00.

  • There is no application fee for our Presessional Programme.

What happens next?

  • In most cases (usually LN901, LN902, LN903, LN905, LN909) we will contact you to arrange an interview. This is normally conducted using Skype. After this, usually within 1 or 2 days, we will communicate to you via email the result of this interview and either offer you a place or explain why we were not able to this time.
  • In some cases (usually LN906 and LN907) we will review your application based on the information you have submitted and be able to communicate to you whether or not we have a place on the course we can offer to you.
  • If we are able to offer you a place then we will also send you a link with instructions on how to accept and pay your course fees.
  • Following this you will receive confirmation from us and instructions on how to apply for accommodation and any visa you may require.
  • At any stage in the process please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
