About me

Mia Schöb is a PhD candidate in International Relations/Political Science at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. She holds an M.A. degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute, a Masters in Translation from the University of Córdoba and a B.A. degree in Regional Studies of Latin America from the University of Cologne. Prior to starting her PhD, Mia worked with different organisations and foundations in Switzerland, Colombia, Spain and Germany, among others on issues of private security governance, regional security, foreign policy, and women’s roles in armed conflict and organised violence. Mia’s research interests pivot around gender and violence, armed group dynamics, peacebuilding and DDR, transitional justice, memory building and identity construction. In her dissertation, she examines reintegration processes for ex-combatants of non-state armed groups in the context of Colombian peace construction and state building.
