About me

Mariann is responsible for the day to-day operation of the Centre, for ensuring sound management of the Centre’s financial arrangements, and providing administrative guidance to the academic staff. She also supports strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.

She joined the team in January 2019 after working with the University of Exeter as the Q-Step Centre Operations Officer. Prior to this, she worked as Programme Manager for the British Council’s Governance portfolio in Mexico, where she designed projects for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region on topics such as good governance, human rights and democracy, freedom of information, and criminal-justice reform. She was also part of the FCO's Global Opportunities Fund Team at the British Embassy in Mexico, covering the portfolio for human rights and sustainable development. Mariann worked as Services Coordinator at Sin Fronteras IAP, managing implementation of the UNHCR project on legal advice and psychosocial support for asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in Mexico City. Before moving to the UK in 2012, Mariann was the Manager of the British Club in Lagos, Nigeria.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Universidad Iberoamerica in Mexico City and Master's studies in International Relations between the European Union and Latin America from the Universita di Bologna.

She is a native speaker of Spanish as well as being fluent in English and Italian.
