Karen is the Centre Manager at the Latin America and Caribbean Centre at the LSE with responsibility for the centre’s day-to-day running. She oversees the centre's financial arrangements, execution of events, external communication, supports strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
Before joining LSE, Karen worked on Latin America and Caribbean affairs at the British Embassy in Mexico and at the Association for Commonwealth Universities (ACU). At the ACU, Karen supported the delivery of the FCO Chevening Scholarship programme for Latin America and the Caribbean, a role which involved extensive travelling throughout the region.
Karen is of Colombian (and British) descent with links to Cali and Tumaco. She also has links to Mexico having studied and worked in Mexico City for a total of two years. Karen is studying for an MSc on Latin America and Caribbean Development from UCL, particular areas of focus are transitional justice, indigenous rights, democratisation, political financing and the history of labour rebellions in the Caribbean.
