LACC-IDB Postgraduate Essay Prize

We are pleased to announce a call for a LACC-IDB Postgraduate Essay Prize for a paper dealing with Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Prize forms part of a collaboration between the Centre and the InterAmerican Development Bank, and the winner will be announced at the forthcoming public lecture on November 1st.

Criteria:

  • The student must be a registered postgraduate at LSE, based in any department or institute, and should not formally have graduated as Phd or MSc.
  • The paper can address any issue of Development, broadly defined, and may constitute theoretical, empirical or applied research.   
  • Papers can be chapters for a Phd, journal articles in preparation or other unpublished work.
  • Papers should be a minimum 2,500 and maximum 7,500 words including references.

Essays will be judged by a panel of representatives of LSE and the IDB.

Conditions

  • A single Prize of £500 will be awarded.
  • The winner should be available to receive the prize in person from a senior representative of the IDB at the LSE-IDB Conference on evening November 1st.
  • The winner will be invited to provide a summary of their paper for the LACC Blog. Support will be provided by the Managing Editor.

It is expected that the winner would also be asked to present their paper to members of the IDB Research Department, for possible wider circulation.
