I graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry in 1993. I joined the LSE in 1997 and have been Deputy Manager of the Research Degrees Unit since its inception in June 2005.
As Deputy Manager I line manage Ally in the running of the Unit. I advise staff and students on all aspects of Research Degree procedures and regulations, which include the MPhil/PHD examination process and registration. I also compile statistics and data for internal and external purposes, eg the School's completion rates, RAE student data, ESRC/AHRC submission rate surveys. I am also the Secretary of the Research Degrees Subcommittee.

I graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in English in 1996 and have an MBA in Higher Education Management from the Institute of Education. I have worked at King's College London, UCL and SOAS and have been at the LSE since 2005. I became the Research Degrees Manager in 2009, having previously worked in the Teaching Quality Assurance and Review Office. I also work as an Audit Secretary with the QAA and am Secretary to the ARC Quality Practitioners' Group.
As Research Degrees Manager, I am responsible for all regulatory aspects of research degrees within the School and take the lead on individual student cases such as appeals relating to examinations and de-registration. I advise both students and staff on these matters. In addition, I provide guidance on research degree policy matters, in particular the implications of policies of national agencies (such as the Research Councils, HEFCE and the QAA) and developments in the research degree area. I also act as an advisor to the School on matters of impact arising from the Bologna Process.
