1. How do I request a copy of my transcript?

All alumni and current students can request a hard copy transcript. Please select the relevant alumni or current student link on the transcripts homepage|.

Additionally, alumni from 2010 onwards are issued with a free online digital transcript shortly after the official publication of results. The transcript is legally-valid and can be accessed, and shared with third parties, 24 hours a day. For more information on this service, please see Alumni from 2010 onwards.

2. When will I receive my transcript?

Hard-copy transcripts are normally dispatched within 3 working days from receipt of your order. Please remember to allow additional time for delivery if you have requested that your transcript be posted to you.

3. How much does my transcript cost?

Transcripts for current students, and for alumni who graduated before 1993, are free of charge. For all other alumni there is a £5 fee for each copy.

4. What are my options for receiving my transcript?

You can either request that it be posted, emailed or faxed to you. Alternatively you can request that it be collected in person or by a courier from the Student Services Centre|.

Please refer to the detailed instructions accessible from the relevant alumni or current students link on the transcripts homepage|.

5. Can you send my transcripts directly to a third party?

Yes, provided the alumnus/student makes the request themselves.

6. If I request collection in person, how quickly do I have to collect my transcript from the Student Services Centre?

The Student Services Centre| will keep your transcripts ready for collection for one month from the date of issue. If you do not collect your transcripts within that time, they will be confidentially destroyed and you will need to re-order.

7. Can someone else collect my transcript for me?

Yes - a third party may collect your transcript on your behalf, provided you have authorised the person to do so. Please send your authorisation, including the name of the third party, to Registry|. The third party will also need to show government- or LSE-issued photo ID at the Student Services Centre| in order to collect your transcript.

8. Can I request that my transcripts are sealed in individual envelopes?

Yes – when making your online transcript request, simply click on the 'yes' button next to the 'individually sealed?' option at the bottom of the page.

For alumni who graduated before 1993, please include this request in your email.

9. I have a form / application number from a university / law school that I wish to enclose with my transcript before it is posted. Is this possible?

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to complete or include these forms with your transcript. However, if you need to include an application reference number with your transcript please enter it in ‘Address line 1’ before completing any other address details from ‘Address line 2’ onwards. This information will then appear on your transcript.

For alumni who graduated before 1993, please include this request in your email.

10. I am a potential employer of an LSE student or alumnus. How can I obtain proof of attendance or award?

For graduates from 2010 onwards the alumnus will be able to provide verification of his/her degree using the Digitary system. This will be in the form of an email containing a link to the Digitary website where you will be able to access a legally valid and tamper-evident document confirming the alumnus’ results.

For current students and graduates prior to 2010 please see Third party requests for verification of qualifications| for details.

11. How do I request a Diploma Supplement?

For graduates from 2010 onwards, please email Registry| to request a Diploma Supplement.

If you graduated between July 2005 and December 2009, you may order a Diploma Supplement when making your online transcript request, by clicking 'Yes' next to the ‘Supplement?’ option.

Diploma supplements are, unfortunately, not available to alumni from before July 2005.

Please see The Diploma Supplement| for further details.

12. How can I find details of the School’s grading system?

Details of the current system will be printed on the back of all transcripts. This information, plus details of previous grading systems, can also be found at Key to transcript grading|.

13. Can I get a certified photocopy of my transcript?

No – the School only issues official hard copy transcripts.

14. I have a debt to the School – can I still obtain a transcript?
