Transcripts - Current students

Continuing and finalist students who have not yet received any formal results

If you are a masters or first year undergraduate student and have not yet received your results, then we are unable to provide you with an intermediate transcript. This is because any marks you have received throughout the year are provisional until they have been formally ratified and released by the School. However, you can request a module certificate, which will provide you with written confirmation of the courses you have studied during your first year of study. To request a module certificate, please email Registry. Requests for module certificates usually take between 3-5 working days to process. Please note that the Student Services Centre is closed during the graduation ceremonies, and waiting times for any documents will not include closure days.

Continuing students who have received formal results

Intermediate transcripts are available for continuing students, i.e. students who have not yet graduated but who have completed and received formal results for at least one year of study. Examples of such students include 3rd year undergraduates with published results for years 1 and 2, or graduate students on the 2nd year of a 2-year programme who have results published for year 1.

An intermediate transcript will contain the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your student number
  • The title and subject of your programme of study
  • The details of the modules studied and the marks awarded (including any fail marks)
  • Start date
  • Expected completion date
  • Language of instruction and assessment

When you can request your intermediate transcript

You can only request an intermediate transcript when you have received formal results. Visit Results for further details.

Please note that, to allow results to be processed effectively, the transcript ordering facility is closed from the end of May each year for all students. The system will re-open for continuing undergraduate students in late July and for continuing graduate students on 2-year programmes in late November. Until the system re-opens continuing students may wish to request a Certificate of Registration as an alternative method of confirming their student status.

How to order your transcript

1) Log on to LSE for You with your LSE username and password.

2) Go to the Certification and Documentation menu and select 'Transcript Request'.

3) Follow the instructions to complete your order, including selecting a delivery/collection option as listed below.

  • Standard post: simply enter the recipient's address on the web form.
  • Collection in person from the Student Services Centre: simply enter ‘Collection’ in the ‘Address Line 1’ field.
  • Email / Fax: enter ‘Email to’ followed by the email address, or ‘Fax to’ followed by the fax number, in the ‘Address Line 1’ field. You can then enter a postal address from ‘Address Line 2’ onwards if you also wish a hard copy to be posted to you. If you do not enter a postal address, the hard copy will be confidentially destroyed.
  • Collection by courier from the Student Services Centre: enter ‘Courier’ in the ‘Address Line 1’ field, followed by the name and address of the recipient.  You should then arrange for a courier (we recommend that you use DHL) to collect your transcript from the Student Services Centre on your behalf. Please ensure you provide the courier with your name and student ID so that they are able to collect the right documents. Please also remember that it will take up to three working days from the date of order for the transcripts to be available for collection.

You will not receive any sort of confirmation email from the system once you have placed your order. Your order will be sent to the Registry Team automatically once you have submitted it.

Intermediate transcripts are free of charge and are normally issued within 3-5 working days of Registry receiving your request, although waiting times may be longer during busy periods. Please note that the Student Services Centre is closed during the graduation ceremonies, and waiting times for any documents will not include closure days.

Finalist students who have received formal results

You will be able to access your final transcript after you have received your final results. Visit  Transcripts - Alumni 1993 onwards for instructions on obtaining your transcript.

Please note that the Student Services Centre is closed during the graduation ceremonies, and waiting times for any documents will not include closure days.
