Student Visitor Letter Request

This Student Visitor Letter request form is for:

  • unregistered  LSE students who are required to return to the UK to re-sit examinations and/or dissertation;
  • students who will be attending the School for no longer than 6 months.
This request form is NOT for:
  • Offer holders, or students expecting to register at the LSE, should contact either Graduate or Undergraduate Admissions with any CAS queries.
  • Summer School students should contact the Summer Schooloffice.
  • Double Degreestudents, who should follow the instructions given by their programme administrators.

Please note: If you enter the UK with a Student Visitor Visa you do not have the option to extend this visa from within the UK. If you will require additional time to complete your studies you will have to return to your home country and submit a request for a CAS to enable you to apply for a Tier 4 (General) student visa from outside the UK. A student visitor visa, therefore, may not be suitable for non-final year students returning to the UK to re-sit examinations.

Instructions for submitting a Student Visitor Letter Request

  • Please have your passport and current visa with you before filling in this form. It is your responsibility to fill in this form using correct information.
  • Please complete all fields. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are compulsory.
  • You must ensure that your term-time contact address is updated in LFY before submitting your request.
  • Please take time to double-check all information on the statement.  If any of the information is incorrect, please contact Registry as soon as possible.
  • You will receive an email confirmation once we receive your request. If you do not receive an email confirmation, we have not received your request or you have entered an incorrect email address
  • Your Student Visitor letter will be posted/emailed as soon as possible, and usually within one week of submission.  You are advised to submit the original paper copy of this letter when making your application for a Student Visitor Visa. For further advice on the type of documentation to submit with your application please contact our International Student Immigration Service (ISIS).

March 2014 - please note that we are currently experiencing problems with sending out confirmation emails following the submission of this webform. This is due to a technical issue that we are working to resolve. It is possible that you will not receive a confirmation email even if your request form has been submitted successfully.   • Submit your Student Visitor letter request
    Student Visitor Letter requests will ordinarily be processed within one week of submission and then posted to your address or emailed to you. Please do not click 'Submit' more than once - it may take a few moments for the form to be submitted. You will receive an email confirmation when the request has been submitted.
