Frank Knox Fellowships
These Fellowships are provided by Mrs Annie Reid Knox for the Frank Knox Memorial, and are to enable students from the UK to study at Harvard University.
Each Fellowship is at least $25,000 plus tuition and a health insurance fee per annum. Travel is not included, but in cases of severe hardship applications can be made to Harvard for financial assistance towards travel costs.
Recipients admitted to a degree programme requiring multiple years of study are guaranteed two years of funding provided they remain in good academic standing. Recipients admitted to a one year degree programme, or as a Special Student or Visiting Fellow, will be guaranteed funding for one year.
Frank Knox Fellowships are not granted for postdoctoral study at Harvard.
Applying for admission
Candidates must, at the same time as applying for a Frank Knox Fellowship, make a separate application for admission direct to the Graduate School of their choice at Harvard University. Admission to a school is a prior condition of the the award of a Knox Fellowship. Information about admission can be found on the Harvard University web pages

Kennedy Scholarships
In 1965 the Kennedy Memorial Trust set up a fund to enable UK graduates to study in the United States.
Boston was President Kennedy's home and he attended Harvard University. Therefore the Kennedy Memorial Trust is offering up to ten scholarships for postgraduate study or research in the USA at Harvard University or Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The award is available for masters, PhD, Vistitng Fellowship and Special Student/non-degree programmes.
The scholarships are tenable for one year and will next be awarded for the 2012/13 academic session. In certain circumstances, students applying for a two year masters programme or a PhD may be considered for extra funding from the Trust to help support a second year of study (normally the institutions themselves will provide funds for supsequent years of study).
Each scholarship includes air fares to and from the US, tuition fees, heatlh insurance, plus a stipend of $24n000 for living costs.
Applying for admission
Candidates must, at the same time as applying for a Kennedy Scholarship, make a separate application for admission direct to Harvard or MIT. Information about admission can be found on the Harvard University and MIT web pages.
Candidates wishing to study as Non-degree students at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard or as Special Students on the Technology and Policy Programme at MIT will gain automatic admission upon their subsequent application to these programmes.
