Sidney Webb House is situated in the trendy area of Borough, just south of London Bridge, however as with any major city (particularly when in busy ‘tourist’ areas) you need to take sensible precautions such as sticking to well-lit main roads at night, not having valuables “on show” and not using any underpasses – always stay above ground.
However we rarely have any security issues here and the residence itself is very secure so you shouldn’t have any problems if you follow basic safety principles.
Sidney Webb House is a non-smoking residence and heavy fines will be implemented for anyone caught smoking indoors or in the courtyard area.
The designated smoking area is outside the front gates.
Subwardens are LSE postgraduate students who live on-site and are employed by the school to be on duty each evening to deal with any out-of-hours issues, welfare concerns and maintain good order within the residence. If you need to speak to a subwarden, you can just dial ‘0’ from the phone in your room and ask to speak to the duty subwarden. For contact details, visit: Who's who at Sidney Webb House
