A big welcome from all the staff at Passfield Hall. Passfield, like all LSE residences, has a twin-track management structure: the warden and his team preside over student welfare and discipline within the residence whilst the day-to-day management is the task of the service manager and his staff, who have responsibility for reception services, cleaning, maintenance and the facilities within the hall.

Warden, Dr Michael Blackwell

Michael is Assistant Professor of Tax Law and the most senior member of LSE at Passfield Hall. As warden, he is responsible for welfare and discipline within the residence.
His aim is to ensure that your stay here is a happy and safe one.

Subwardens

Every week-night from 6pm until 8am and all day during the weekend, one of the subwardens will be on duty. Do not hesitate to contact him or her in the event of any annoyance or disturbance caused by other residents, or if you are in need of pastoral support. In such instances you should contact the duty subwarden rather than the warden or an off-duty subwarden.

The name of the duty subwarden and the duty mobile number are displayed on the whiteboard at reception.

Front of house supervisor, Ibolya Trebert

Ibolya works full time at the Passfield reception. If you walk through in the daytime, chances are you'll see her behind the desk.

Having been at Passfield since the first day it reopened, Ibolya can deal with any questions or queries you have.

Management

Front of house manager, Minaxi Patel

Minaxi is responsible for the day to day management of the Hall and the direct management of the reception team.

If you have any problems that cannot be dealt with by the reception team, she should be your first port of call.

Service manager, Richard Anderson

Richard is the Service Manager for the Northern and South Clusters. His role is to oversee the service the reception provides and keep everything running as smoothly as possible. Richard tends to be found at Bankside Residence, but can often be spotted around Passfield on visits.

Catering

Chef manager, Craig Frampton

Craig is the chef in the kitchen downstairs and is responsible for the delicious meals you eat each day. If you would like to see anything special on the menu, Craig is always on the lookout for recipe ideas, comments and suggestions.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping supervisor, Jaime Posso

Jaime is the supervisor of the cleaning staff for our cleaning contractors, Ocean Contract Cleaning Ltd.

He co-ordinates the cleaning, especially just before everyone moves in, to get the rooms ready for your arrival and keep the place looking as good as it did when it opened. Comments about housekeeping can be addressed to reception.

Maintenance

Maintenance officer, Selcuk Bulut

Selcuk performs all of the day-to-day maintenance around the hall. If your light bulb needs changing, door needs fixing or sink is leaking, it's Selcuk who will come and fix it. If you see him coming through a door with something heavy, please hold the door open for him.

Security

Security staff - Magenta Security Services

Weekends and overnight (10pm until 8am), Magenta Security Services look after the security of residents and are helping with urgent needs outside office hours.

Always provide proof of residence if asked and give them your full co-operation. Note - security guards don't handle payments, send faxes or make photocopies.

Meet your student hall committee

What is the committee? The student hall committee is a body of residents elected by residents in order to represent them with the hall administration, School and Students' Union. Each committee member has their own areas of responsibility, but they all help in all areas, particularly in the organising of social events.

Common room fee The hall committee is also in place in order to spend the funds raised by the common room fee in the best interests of the residents - usually for facilities and social events.

Get elected Elections for the committee are held in week five of the first term. They are hotly contested affairs, with many candidates vying to win your vote! Any Passfield resident can stand for any position.

Meetings If you want a say in how your money is spent, want to influence the committee’s decisions or bring up any issue you want discussed, you can attend the weekly committee meeting (Sundays at 8pm during term time, in the main common room).
