Welcome to Lilian Knowles House

Hello and welcome. My name is Leo Beattie and I am the LSE School Representative for Lilian Knowles House.  I also manage the PhD programme and funded research projects for the Department of Management.

Lilian Knowles House is located just a short 35 minutes’ walk to LSE (or an even shorter bus or tube ride) in a fantastic central location next to the famous and newly renovated Spitalfields Market.

Nestled in between the City and the East End, the residence provides an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in London’s history and culture. Sample the delights of nearby Brick Lane to the East or visit St. Pauls Cathedral to the west, there’s no shortage of interesting places to visit during your stay.

The residence itself is arranged in clusters, with four to eight en suite single rooms sharing a kitchen. There are also some self-contained studios and one bedroom flats. The computer room, laundry and common room are shared by all residents and also the garden courtyard which provides a relaxing green space in the summer. We house just over 360 postgraduate LSE students so there is always something going on and the student committee provide a great focus for events.

Lilian Knowles House is managed by Sanctuary Students, an independent housing association with several residences across London, although all residents are LSE students. Sanctuary staff manage the hall on a daily basis and help make sure that things are running smoothly. Visit: Sanctuary Students - Lilian Knowles House

As LSE School Representative for Lilian Knowles House I am here to link the residence to LSE and help with welfare and discipline matters. For more details about who does what visit our Who's Who.

On behalf of all of us as Lilian Knowles House, I wish you a happy and successful time at LSE and I look forward to meeting you soon.
