Who's who at Carr-Saunders Hall

A big welcome from everyone at Carr-Saunders. We all have one aim: to help you make the most of your time in London, at LSE and in the hall. We aim to ensure that your stay is as comfortable, pleasant and, most importantly, secure and safe as possible.

Our service manager oversees the administration, whereas the warden looks after pastoral care issues. The student committee organises the social events at the hall. All teams work closely together and will always try to help wherever they can.

Pastoral support

The warden deals with matters of pastoral support and discipline within the hall, together with two subwardens who assist him in this task.

The duty subwarden should be your first point of call for any help or queries. He or she can be reached via the duty mobile, which allows you to get through to the subwarden on-call.

Svetozar RajakWarden, Dr Svetozar Rajak

Warden, Dr Svetozar Rajak  Rajak teaches in the International History Department and is the Academic Director of the LSE IDEAS Centre for International Affairs, Diplomacy and Strategy.

Reception and administration

Receptionist, Agnieszka Milek
Agnieszka works full time at the reception desk. She will be able to help you with any enquiries you have during your stay at Carr-Saunders.

Maintenance and housekeeping

To report a maintenance fault, complete the online maintenance report form|.

Maintenance, Krzystof Przygoda
Kryz is responsible for the general upkeep of the Hall and can usually be seen wielding a screwdriver.

Housekeeper, Jose Juan (Joseph) Montegro
Joseph works for Ocean Contract Cleaning, the company responsible for the hall's housekeeping. He can always be seen around the hall with cloth, duster or bucket in hand. Be nice to him the cleaners are good people to have on side!

Management

Front of house manager, Minaxi Patel
Minaxi is responsible for the day to day management of the hall and the direct management of the reception team. If you have any problems that cannot be dealt with by the reception team, she should be your first port of call.

Service manager, Richard Anderson 
Richard is responsible for the running of five LSE halls: Rosebery, Passfield, Carr-Saunders, Bankside and Butlers Wharf.  In the first instance, please direct any queries to the Carr Saunders reception, or the front of house manager, Minaxi Patel.

Catering

Chef manager, Said Zibani
Said is responsible for the catering operation in the hall and is the man behind the many wonderful meals you get.

Your student hall committee

  • The student hall committee is in charge of organising social events throughout your time at the hall.
  • To find out more about what is going on, or if you would like to get involved, check below for the most relevant person to get in touch with. 
  • Committee members have their own areas of responsibility, but they all help each other in all areas, particularly in the organising of social events.

President, Benjamin Saunders

The president of the committee chairs the committee meetings and is responsible for the overall running of the committee. The president also represents the residents of the hall with the hall administration, the LSESU and the Residences User Group.

Assists the president with the smooth running of the committee.

Treasurer, Tom Glen Harry

You can imaging what the treasurer does - taking care of the money. Writing cheques, keeping accounts, maintaining the bank account and approving purchases are the main responsibilities of the treasurer.

Entertainment officers, James Forsyth, Peter O'Donnell
Social activities are such an important part of the committee's activities, that there are two positions. The entertainment officers are planning, organising and publicising events with the help of their committee colleagues.

Welfare and community officer, Daniel Cayford

The welfare and community officer is in place primarily help building a great resident community at the hall, and to refer residents with problems and concerns to the relevant services provided by LSE - the warden and his team in the hall, the Medical Centre and the LSESU.

Environmental officer, position vacant
As you might imagine, the environmental officer is responsible for the committee's sustainability efforts. The primary role is to work with the hall's sustainability champions in order to improve recycling and other green activities in the hall.
