Gemma Stansfield

I’ve taught at LSE since 2008 and joined the LSE LIFE team in 2016. I’m excited to be part of an innovative project, contributing to the enhancement of academic, personal and professional support.

As a Learning Developer, I lead on the design and delivery of bespoke learning activities, working with colleagues from across the School. I’m particularly interested in discourse and genre analysis of academic and professional forms of communication; critical and creative thinking in Higher Education, and theories of human learning, in particular Socio-Cultural Theory. Ultimately, I’m interested in anything and everything to do with learning, thinking and communicating.

I enjoy studying and found my BA and MA highly rewarding, but some of my key skills have come from outside the classroom: trekking to Everest Basecamp taught me about resilience, determination and teamwork; doing Route 66 on a Harley taught me to appreciate the journey not just the destination, and organising a conference earlier this year taught me to expect the unexpected. LSE LIFE is here to support you in your studies but also to help you make the most of your time at LSE. I hope you reach your goals and have some great experiences along the way!
