Team Rules

Team Rules

There are very few ‘rules’ for GCC teams, but please do follow these three guidelines when forming and registering a team:

  1. Teams should be formed of seven colleagues, with one acting as Team Captain.
  2. Priority should be given to staff who did not participate in GCC last year, where demand is high.
  3. No more than two people on each team should already be “very highly active”.  This might mean that you are training for a half marathon, commuting on your bike from 10 miles away on a daily basis, or simply someone who walks everywhere and already easily clocks up 15,000 steps a day.  It is up to individuals to decide if this applies to them and for teams to regulate themselves accordingly.

Please note: the funding from the HR Division for GCC will cover the costs of 24 teams; however, there are clearly more than 24 areas of the School and some are much larger than others. Some areas of the School may be willing to fund the costs of additional teams; such contributions will be gratefully received.

Where Divisions, Departments, Centres or Institutes want to put forward more than one team, they are advised to liaise with Raj Lakhani, HR Manager, in advance of submitting.  In any event, where there are more requests than can be approved, decisions will be made on the basis of achieving maximum spread and representation across the School.
