Another year, another Global Corporate Challenge done and dusted… and what a fantastic success it has been. This year, 273 staff took part in the 100-day challenge, collectively walking the equivalent distance of 6.56 times around the world, which is an average of 6.1 miles per day, per employee (and slightly up on last year’s average of 6.01 miles).
Put another way, 95% of participants achieved an average of more than 10,000 steps per day and over 70% of staff achieved averages that classified them as “highly active” – a fantastic achievement for all involved.
The eventual winning team – the “Odds and Sods” (a mixed team of staff across Management, ARD, HR and the Directorate) – racked up an impressive 5,889 miles in total (8.4 miles per day, per team member) leaving them just over 100 miles ahead of their nearest rivals. However, the Library came up top in terms of most active area of the School overall.
The full report of LSE’s progress over the 100 days will be received shortly and added to these pages, with key highlights shared at the GCC closing event planned for Tuesday, 6th October.
In the meantime, do take a look through the GCC gallery, which captures the spirit of the event and showcases individual highlights from the challenge:
