We recommend avoiding advertising vacancies during the weeks immediately prior to and after the Christmas break as we tend to receive a lower response rate from applicants during this time.

By these dates your HR Adviser will need:
Your final advertising documents (Advert, Job Description, Person Specification)
Funding authorisation from the Finance or Research division, MSLs and so on.
The role to be uploaded on the WCN recruitment system
The HERA grading for the role to be finalised (support roles only)
Please note: these deadlines relate to online advertising only. If you wish to advertise in a publication, the relevant copy deadlines will need to be factored into your timetable. Please consult with your HR Adviser for further information.
Closing dates during closure periods
We recommend avoiding having a closing date of a vacancy during the closure periods because the School is not open to answer candidate queries.
Single Nomination requests
Deadline to receive single nomination requests for committee consideration prior to Christmas break =27 November 2013
Appointment paperwork will be produced within 5 working days from HR Adviser receiving the following:
the VCAC’s final approval of the appointment.
Funding approval from the Finance or Research Division.
Completed RF9/Request to Appoint form from the Department.

From 1 October 2011, the School's current Age Procedure for Post 65 Working and related Working Beyond Retirement Policy will no longer apply and from this date there will be no contractual or default retirement date. Transitional arrangements came into force with effect from 6 April 2011 allowing the School's Age Procedure for Post 65 Working and Working Beyond Retirement Policy to continue to apply prior to the end of September 2011.
