There are two introductory programmes for teachers in the School:
one for new full-time academic staff
one for graduate teaching assistants/guest teachers
Any member of staff who run sessions with students, and are interested in developing their teaching abilities, are welcome to attend the most appropriate programme.
Induction for new full-time academic staff
Attendance at the New Academic Induction Programme is compulsory for new lecturers with less than three years teaching experience in a UK university or equivalent. All others are welcome to attend any of the sessions. The programme is designed to assist those staff, not only to fulfil their teaching obligations, but also to prepare for Interim and Major Review - critical steps in the career path of academic staff in the School. New researchers are not required to attend the induction sessions, but are most welcome.
For further details or to book a place on the induction programme please contact TLC, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Induction for graduate teaching assistants
The School expects all graduate teaching assistants (GTAs), who are also registered students at the School, and who do not have prior teaching experience to attend, as a minimum:
the Deans' Induction for graduate teaching assistants organised by the Deans' office
a series of workshops run by TLC: Postgraduates Who Teach: an introduction to teaching and learning in HE

Please note the Dean's Inductions for Graduate Teaching Assistants is compulsory for all new GTAs.
