LSE’s services and divisions provide support services to the academic and non-academic community. Pro-Director of Research

Professor Black is Professor of Law and Pro-Director for Research

Julia Black is currently Pro Director for Research at LSE.  She joined the Law Department in 1994. She completed her first degree in Jurisprudence and her DPhil at Oxford University. Her primary research interest is regulation.  Julia has had a  British Academy / Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship, and been a Visiting Fellow at the University of Sydney and at All Souls College, Oxford, and in 2014 was the Sir Frank Holmes Visiting Professor in Public Policy at the University of Victoria, Wellington.

She has written extensively on regulatory issues in a number of areas, and has advised policy makers, consumer bodies and regulators on issues of institutional design and regulatory policy.

 

Research Division

The Research Division is the School's central administrative body that supports research funding applications to external funding agencies within the UK or overseas, coordinates the School’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission process, gives advice on knowledge exchange and impact, administers the research ethics policy and the committee, and manages the financial aspects of awarded projects.
