A soundtrack to Greece's despair
International Herald Tribune, 21/06/2013, p.2, Liz Alderman; Rachel Donadio
ERT was “always a political organization,” said Elias Mossialos, a professor of health policy at the London School of Economics, who as minister of state from June to November 2011 tried to alter the culture of ERT. He managed to trim costs and turn a profit, but said his proposals for wholesale changes were ultimately ignored.

After the Olympics - Urbanabolic steroids
The Economist, 21/06/2013
The Olympic site has had the potential to benefit from this growth for a while, says Tony Travers of the London School of Economics. The transport links into Stratford are excellent, and schools nearby have improved sharply in recent years. The problem was the sheer scale of the post-industrial wreckage. The Olympics offered an excuse - and money - to clear this up.

Spending time by the sea in places like Brighton and Hove is one of the keys to happiness, according to a study that uses mobile technology to track people’s wellbeing in different environments. The research was led by George MacKerron from the University of Sussex's department of economics and Susana Mourato from the London School of Economics' department of geography and environment.

guardian.co.uk (Web), 20/06/2013, Unattributed
The ways and means by which we communicate have changed rapidly in the last five years. Millennials are the first generation where on and offline worlds have fused. A study by LSE in January this year suggested that Facebook penetration with UK teens is over 90% and that 34% of nine to 12-year-olds also have a profile. In addition, messenger apps on all platforms are now the default means of communication for young people – far more than texting or talking.

The figure devised by the London School of Economics rises to £5.3 billion a year when lost earnings are also taken into consideration.
