Kay review makes mark on culture of the City
Financial Times, 23/07/2013, p.19, David Oakley
Of the 17 recommendations in the 40,000 word report, most have been addressed or are in the process of being carried through by regulators or the industry itself. Even the author, John Kay – the London School of Economics professor and Financial Times columnist who recently expressed a gloomy view of the state of the financial system – admits to being pleasantly surprised by the support his review has gained.

Kate's mate
Evening Standard, 22/07/2013, p.20, Charlotte Edwardes
She deferred her place at London School of Economics to read English and psychology and moved to New York into a flat with David Sims, Emma Balfour and Guido Palau, the hairstylist. “I loved it because it wasn’t glamorous, it was grunge. There were a lot of girls like me: normal. The music was great, there was the Young British Artist scene,”

Vans will tell illegal immigrants to ‘go home or face arrest’
The Times Online, 23/07/2013, Richard Ford
A Home Office spokeswoman said the drive to persuade illegal immigrants to leave was separate from the assisted voluntary removals scheme, under which people were offered cash to go. Estimates from the London School of Economics put the number of illegal immigrants in the UK at 618,000. Sir Andrew Green, chairman of MigrationWatch UK, which campaigns for lower immigration, said: “This is very optimistic but given the huge cost of forced removal it is worth a try.”
Justice at last for PC Blakelock? After 13 years, new evidence emerges that will lead to murder charge over father-of-three's stabbing during Broadwater Farm riots
Mail Online UK (Web), 22/07/2013, Stephen Wright
By that time, the so-called ‘Tottenham Three’ were a major Left-wing cause celebre. Silcott, the eldest and the de-facto figurehead of the trio, had even been voted honorary President of the Students’ Union at the London School of Economics. He would go on to be elected vice president of the National Union of Students, as a supposed ‘figure of national significance’.
