May launches review of police stop-and-search powers
The Guardian, 03/07/2013, p.4, Alan Travis
The consultation is to be accompanied by the publication next week of a report by the Inspectorate of Constabulary into the effectiveness of stop-and-search laws. The research was commissioned after LSE/Guardian research into the 2011 riots identified the stop-and-search laws as a key factor behind the disturbances.

Coup would tear nation apart
The Daily Mirror, 03/07/2013, p.15, Fawaz A. Gerges
EGYPT is deeply and dangerously polarised between two opposing camps - the Islamists led by President Mohamed Morsi and the majority of the country. Egyptians have turned against Morsi's authoritarian leadership and economic mismanagement a year after his election. Institutions are incomplete or paralysed. There is no parliament because the one voted in has been disqualified by the judiciary. Article by Fawaz A Gerges, Director of the Middle East Centre at the London School of Economics

Financial Times, 28/06/2013, p.30, John Mcdermott
Over the past decade, Easterlin's core premise has been expanded upon by research in other fields. In Happiness: Lessons from a New Science, Richard Layard, a professor at the London School of Economics, proposed seven areas that could explain the paradox, and that should be the focus of policy makers — family relationships, friends, employment, financial situation, health, personal
