Threat of jail would make dare-devil bankers think twice
The Times, 23/02/2012, p.59, Jonathan Fisher
Comment: Jonathan Fisher, a visiting professor of law at the LSE, believes the FSA light touch approach to financial regulation clearly does not work, so he would like the forthcoming Financial Services Bill to include a passage regarding the prosecution of failed banking executives.

An area of a controversial law that has yet to be tested in the courts
The Daily Telegraph, 23/02/2012, p.4, Holly Watt
Emily Jackson, professor of law at the London School of Economics, said: “There’s been no case on this, so it’s not been tested, but it gives a lot of discretion to doctors. But women very rarely go in and say they want to have an abortion for those reasons [sex selection].”

Early loan repayments a 'gift to the government'
Times Higher Education, 23/02/2012, p.10
"Every penny of their early repayment is a gift to the government," said Dr Leunig, lecturer in economic history at the London School of Economics. Dr Leunig said in a report published in September: "Given that the average person making a voluntary early repayment currently is 25, and earns just £18,400 a year, it is likely that many of these people are repaying money that they would not end up repaying at all."
