Rochina

Rochina_476x357

This picture was submitted by Emma Louise Godshaw, an undergraduate student in the Social Anthropology Department.

How the photo relates to the theme of 'risk':

"Taken in Rochina, Rio de Janeiro's largest favela, a neighbourhood that epitomises risk - drug lords wandering the streets with AK-47s, a corrupt police force and a community living on the edge of fear. To even take this photograph was a risk in itself."
