Red Lights

Red Lights_476x635

This picture was submitted by Jeffrey Steller, a graduate student in the Geography and Environment Department.

How the photo relates to the theme of 'risk':

"The Red Light district embodies the risk of social marginalization and stigma for partaking in the pleasures. One risks everything, their social standing, their relationships, their health to enter this world. The true moment of risk comes as one leaves the safety of the dark alley and red lights for at that moment he/she risks losing the anonymity the lights afford."
