Bleak Prospects

How the photo relates to the theme of 'risk':

"Families in Bangladesh whose livelihoods have been destroyed by natural disasters often move to the capital city, Dhaka, in the search for work. Some are forced to eke out a living picking through landfills to find recyclable materials which they sell for about 10p a kg. The children I visited had their shacks in the middle of the landfill. They often do not have earn enough money to buy clothes or even shoes and are prone to get infections if their feet are cut by the waste. Many turn to sniffing glue to cope. Seeing the desolation they face is heart-wrenching - my pictures draw attention to the risks they face throughout their lives."
