LSE Photo Prize 2016

LSE Arts is pleased to announce that Photo Prize is back for its ninth year!

Photo Prize 2016 follows the Literary Festival theme 'Utopias' and is part of the celebrations of LSE's 120th anniversary.  

The 2016 Photo Prize submission deadline has now passed. Winners are to be announced at the end of the Literary Festival on Saturday 27 February 2016.

Am I eligible to take part?

If you are a current LSE staff member or student, then the answer is yes! This year we are also accepting submissions from LSE Alumni.

How do I submit a photograph?

LSE Staff and Students can email arts.photoprize@lse.ac.uk with your competition submission form and photographs. Please click here for a submission form. Please note that all photographs must be emailed from an LSE email address and with a completed submission form.If your entry is not accompanied with the submission form or comes from a non LSE email address, your entry may not be included in the competition.

LSE Alumni  can email arts.photoprize@lse.ac.uk with your competition submission form and photographs. Please click here for the alumni submission form. Please note that you must provide your Alumni ID number, degree course and year of graduation for us to prove your alumni status. If your entry is not accompanied with the submission form, it may not be included in the competition. 

How many photos can I submit?

You may enter up to three photographs on the Photo Prize theme.

When will submissions be accepted?

Submissions will be accepted from Friday 4 December 2015 to Friday 29 January 2016.

Who are the judges?

The judges for the competition are still being decided, check back here soon for more details.

What are the prizes?

This year three winners will be chosen by the Photo Prize panel of judges. The first prize winner will be awarded a Diana Baby 110 (lomography camera) and Lens Package. The second prize winner will be awarded a £40 Amazon Voucher and the third prize winner will be awarded a £20 Amazon Voucher. You will also have your photo displayed on campus following the competition.

Where can I find the photos?

Please check back closer to the time for details of where to find the photographs during the Literary Festival week.

Do I have to be a student or staff members at the LSE to access these locations?

We try to ensure Photo Prize is accessible to the public. However, on some days during the Literary Festival the pop up venue will only be accessible to LSE community members. This will be advertised on the webpage with a (P) to symbolize that the venue is accessible to the general public.

I can’t attend during February, can I see any of these photos online?

In March 2016 a selection of the photos will be available as an online gallery.
