Old Building Reliefs

About the Old Building Reliefs

The reliefs on the Clare Market façade of the Old Building were added in the 1930s. The reliefs were designed by the architect A.S.G.Butler, FRIBA, (1888-1965) and executed by the sculptor Edgar Silver Frith (1890-1974) who taught sculpture at South London Technical School of Art. The reliefs are thought to represent different modes of thinking.
