Senior Common Room
The Senior Common Room itself is located on the fifth floor of the Old Building and is open during the same hours as the School.
Newspapers and periodicals
We spend part of the subscriptions paid by members on newspapers and periodicals, chosen to reflect the interests of members generally. Please send suggestions for additions or withdrawals to the secretary of the Senior Common Room (SCR). The reversionary interest in these publications is auctioned annually, during the Michaelmas term, and the proceeds used to supplement SCR funds. See Events.
Staff Dining Room
The staff dining room is located on the fifth floor of the Old Building. It provides an excellent lunch-time dining service and coffee bar for members of the SCR. See Staff Dining Room and Coffee Bar (in LSE Services)
Cricket
The LSE Senior Common Room sponsors a cricket team that welcomes all members of LSE staff and caters for cricketers of all abilities. About 14 matches are played each year from May to August at the Berrylands ground in New Malden - where an excellent wicket and SCR-sponsored tea awaits the player. The games are social and friendly - typical opponents are UCL, Goldsmiths and Kings staff teams. The team is always looking for fresh players and, if you are interested, Rob Baldwin would be pleased to hear from you (email r.baldwin@lse.ac.uk). Please don't worry if you are out of practice!
Christmas box
It has been customary for many years for members to contribute annually to a fund at Christmas from which presents are made to the porters and the catering and cleaning staff of the School. Contributions are deducted by the Pay Team in Human Resources from salaries payable in December.
