04 Strange Place, Familiar Atmosphere

This picture was taken by Faris Al Sulayman, a postgraduate student in the Government Department. It was taken in Thein Taung Paya Buddhist Monastery, Kalaw, Myanmar.

I was trekking in Myanmar this spring and decided to go and have a look at this monastery on a hill overlooking the town of Kalaw. As I wondered from one classroom to the next I realized quite a few of the students were sitting exams, and even though they lived a world away, and what they were studying was probably completely alien to me, the tense atmosphere felt familiar, so I asked a monk for permission and took this shot from a side door.

The next image is Rejection.
