This picture was taken by Mariana Alexander a postgraduate in Development Management.
This picture depicts a young man teaching book keeping basics to a room full of micro-credit borrowers. They laugh at him because they’ve been doing it all along, but in their own informal way. This is suggestive of a practice endemic to the social sciences as a practice – formalizing what is often already known intuitively and then being incapable of looking beyond those forms.
