The annual horse race known as the palio is the most anticipated event in the beautiful medieval city of Siena. The palio is more than a race, it is the heart of Sienese culture and their life-styles are built around it. This photo depicts part of the palio parade where flag-bearers show their skills wearing the colours of their contrada or 'neighbourhood' to show their pride.
