I believe that the placement of the foot on the rocks questions the axial reference which the viewer transposes the background to.
This inquiry works well in juxtaposition with the long exposure, which captures the shiny/slimy texture of the metamorphic rock and the ephemeral quality of the waterfall, to create a dual impeding sense of danger and invocation.
