This picture was taken by David Britain, a postgraduate student from the Department of International History. It was taken at Lake Shkodër, Albania in September 2012.
In 2010 a Gallup Balkan Monitor poll determined that the idea of a Greater Albania is supported by the majority of Albanians in Albania (63%), Kosovo (81%) and the Republic of Macedonia (53%) - a reminder that ethnic conflict is frozen, but not necessarily resolved, in the region. Albania continues to suffer from high unemployment and economic strife. The photograph shows one of the many half-finished or abandoned buildings dotted along the otherwise picturesque banks of the lake.
