This picture was taken by Nicholas Wong, a postgraduate student from the Department of International Relations. It was taken in Saida Zeineb, Damascus, Syria in November 2010.
Saida Zeineb is one of the holy Shiaa Shrines in Syria. Pictured are Iranian pilgrims who are feeling, in a sense reenacting, the pain of the death of Zeineb, who is Shia martyr Ali's daughter and Prophet Muhamad's granddaughter. Apart from emotions, what this picture captures is the emotional pain Shiaas share with their martyrs and must bare their entire lives.
