04 Faro Stork

Faro Stork

This picture was taken by Sancia Wan, a PhD student from the Department of Geography and Environment. It was taken in Faro, Portugal in May 2012

Entering the old town of Faro in southern Portugal, you will be greeted by storks busy building and 'refurbishing' their huge nests up above your head, not on trees, but on human-made structures, like lamp posts, chimneys and church towers! Faro is next to the Ria Formosa, a bird's paradise.
