This picture was taken by Melissa Leclezio, a postgraduate student from the Department of Media and Communication. It was taken in the salt desert of Uyuni, Bolivia in August 2009.

I never felt so far away from the Western world than on this day, yet I was part of something bigger, a wider world, a strikingly beautiful universe. Taking pictures of the breathtaking melting colours of the mountains, vegetation and water helped me to overcome this feeling of loneliness and isolation.
