This picture was taken by David Nguyen, a postgraduate student from the Department of Geography and Environment. It was taken near Sa Pa, Lào Cai, Vietnam in August 2011.

I took this shot on a trip through thousands of rice terraces close to the little town of Sa Pa in the very North of Vietnam, a few kilometres from the Chinese border. The children were making simple jewellery to sell to the few tourists in town while chatting and eating corn - absolutely unimpressed by the stunning view over the valley behind them.
