10 Slumbering Giant

Slumbering Giant

This picture was taken by Matteo Lenzi, a undergraduate student from the Department of International History. It was taken in Chile on 7 April 2008.

Whilst travelling around Chile, I visited the Andes and in particular the Lauca National park. In this park, situated 3000m above sea level, there are numerous mountains and one of them is Mount Parinacota, a potentially active volcano which has not erupted in 300 years. The photo was taken to immortalize this perfect instance when ideal light and wind conditions allowed for the image of the volcano to be reflected on the surface of the lake at its foot.

The next image is 11 Untitled|.
