08 Rio Pasion 1

Rio Passion 1

This picture was taken in March 1991 by Clive Graham, an assistant with the LSE Library. It was taken at the Mexico/Guatemala divide.

I took this picture one early morning in Mexico, while waiting for a boat ride down river to the Guatamalan border control on the other side. I was hitching down the river with my ultimate destination being Sayaxche in Guatemala. It was a sleepy town in 1991, but due to recent archaeological discoveries it is now a popular tourist destination.
