Jammu and Kashmir are the bitter legacy of the partition of India and Pakistan. The dispute is one of the most dangerous in the world because it can potentially trigger a nuclear conflict between the two nations. The people are caught in a limbo because of the insignificant and indecisive power politics. I spent a week travelling in Kashmir with a dear friend when we came across this field at the foothills, which was barb wired to prevent the locals from passing through the military baracks, built on their land.
