This picture was taken by Melissa Leclezio, a postgraduate student in the Department of Media and Communication. She is also a member of the Photography society and the French society. It was taken on August 10 2009, at the Salt Desert of Uyuni, Bolivia.
I never felt so far away from my Western world than on this day, yet I was part of something bigger, a wider world, a strikingly beautiful universe. Taking pictures of the breathtaking melting colours of the mountains, vegetation and water helped me to overcome this feeling of loneliness and isolation.
