The West From Alex


This photo was taken by Martin Higgins, a graduate student in the Social Policy department. This photo was taken in Alexanderplatz, Berlin in November 2009. 

'I took it because I was bored waiting for my girlfriend who was translating for a friend in a mobile phone shop nearby... However after I took it I noticed the symbolism of it. Alexanderplatz was one the focal points of the Eastern side of Berlin during the days of the DDR. Here we are looking west towards the sun. I guess you can make of that what you want...'
