This photo was taken by Andy Thornley, a professor of Urban Planning. This photo was taken by Rye, East Sussex on 4 July 2009. 

'Something about these bikes attracted instant attention.  Was it because of the contrast between the speed of cycling and being stuck in the mud?  They looked in good condition so why had they been left there?  And why were there two of them?'
