The Land of the Midnight Sun

Land-of-the-Midnight-Sun-Norway09_475x357

This photo was submitted by Bernie Taffs, Head of Security. The picture was taken on a cruise ship 'Ocean Majesty' bound for the North Cape - the most northerly point in Europe. The ship was well inside the Arctic Circle and some miles south of Lekkness in the Lofoten Islands.

I was in my cabin, awoke at 2.30am and looked out of the window and saw that the ship was cruising between the main coast of Norway and outlying islands across still water. It was daylight and the wake of the ship was reflecting the sun in plum colours mixed with blue. I dressed, went on deck and took the photo looking towards the stern with the bow waves going out in smooth curved lines.

The next contribution this month is Mountain Valley at Dawn.|
