Sport Relief at LSE

LSE got involved with a great range of events for Sport Relief on Friday 21 March. The School raised nearly £500, an excellent total that will go towards changing lives in the UK and around the world.

The LSE Mile

People ran, jogged or walked two and three-quarter laps of Lincoln's Inn Fields in aid of Sport Relief! Stewards were on hand to point the way, provide water and man the finish line. Some of LSE's younger members from the Nursery were also present to welcome those who completed the mile and even try running through the finish line themselves! The LSE Triathlon

This year's Sport Relief theme was 'Run, Swim and Cycle'. In honour of this, energetic teams and individuals got involved in the inaugural LSE Triathlon, hosted in the LSE SU Gym on the 4th floor of SAW. Teams competed using treadmills, cycles and arm bikes, spending two minutes on each activity.

The Students' Union triumphed in the Triathlon despite some stiff opposition including one individual who set an impressive target on his own against the teams of four.

Class Taster Sessions

Taster sessions in Tai Chi with Ines, Body Toning with Mandy, Salsa with Sam and Belly Dancing with Tevec were enjoyed by all who attended. All of the sessions offered strengthening of the core muscles, realigned posture and built stamina all in thirty minutes each!

The Great LSE Bake Off and Cake Sale

Following the great success of last year's Comic Relief Bake Off and Cake Sale|, the Bake Off and Cake Sale returned to the John Watkins Plaza.

The winner of the Bake Off was an impressive 'Pong' cake from IMT.

Sponsored swim

Alan Revel, Events Manager, did a 5k sponsored swim on Friday 21st March, raising over three times his original target via his Sport Relief Giving Page|. Alan completed the 5km swim in two hours and ten minutes, the cycle ride to work straight after proving tougher than the swim itself!
