May 2013 - Adult Learners' Week
For Adult Learners' Week, the Learning and Development Group promoted a range of courses and events around the theme 'many ways to learn'. Sessions included Writing for Blogs, Planning a Positive Retirement, Sleep Well and One-to-one IT Training. The highlight of the week was a drop-in Learning Café held in the Bean Counter in 32 Lincolns Inn Fields. There was an opportunity to learn about mind mapping software, neurodiversity and computers, managing disability in the work place using assistive technologies, how to save a life and more, all in pleasant surroundings with a cup of tea.
March 2013 - Comic Relief Bakeoff
The Learning and Development Group organised a Bakeoff, inviting departments across the school to contribute or buy cakes to sell, or donate online. Academic Registrar and Director of Academic Services Simeon Underwood had the difficult task of judging the 'Show Stopper' cake competition, featuring impressive creations from various departments. The Department of Social Psychology was declared the winner, with a special commendation for the Department of Management. The event was a success, raising a wonderful £840 for Comic Relief.
